A BIOPSYCHOSOCIAL SPIRITUAL APPROACH

There are many paths to developing an eating disorder.

It is theorized eating disorders are a complex interaction among biological issues such as physiology and genetics; psychological issues such as depression and anxiety; socio-cultural issues such as the emphasis on food and the portrayal of an "ideal" body image in the media; and spiritual issues such as the lack of faith, or loss of self. Because there are so many paths to developing an eating disorder, our program is designed to help individuals identify the connection between the thoughts and feelings that may trigger the actions of their eating disorder, by developing a greater sense of spirituality through self-awareness.

The therapy is designed to help clients learn to identify problematic thinking and emotional impulsivity about themselves and their environment, and to positively modify their coping and behavioral skills so they can effectively manage their eating disorder.
